Experience
- A 2-year engineering graduate scheme at Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN), rotating through various roles and projects: 1) 132 kV ops, 2) 132 kV projects, 3) Market development & commercial ops, 4) Network connections, 5) Operational control centre.
- Devised academic curricula and scripts for educational maths and engineering tutorial videos on YouTube.
- Collaborated with a YouTuber with over 3 million subscribers (Professor Dave Explains), who animated, voiced and published the videos.
- Tutorial topics included differential equations (ODEs and PDEs).
- Founded a software-driven remote cleaning agency serving Manchester as a limited company
- Created a professional high-converting WordPress webpage, booking form and VoIP phone line with IVR
- Interviewed, on-boarded and gave customer feedback to local professional cleaners
- Proactively promoted and reached out to leads via various marketing channels (social media, local news)
- Investigated the use of hydrogel-based e-skin for multi-touch sensors via electrical impedance tomography (EIT) and neural networks
- Co-authored and published a conference paper to IEEE RoboSoft and responded to peer review
- Assembled a tensile testing machine for characterising the hydrogel’s viscoelastic properties
- Used various machine tools (laser cutter, 3D printer) to fabricate the microcontroller-driven robot end effector and synthesised the gelatin-glycerol-carbon black sensorised e-skin.
- Programmed a UR5 industrial robot in Python to fully automate the data collection pipeline, obtaining a real dataset for pressing of the e-skin, and designed neural nets to predict touch position based on the EIT data with up to 90% accuracy.
- Developed a new benchmark for comparing delinquency rates, fit to a variety of customer risk indicators
- Worked closely with the analytics team to create new metrics for predicting arrears deterioration from live Salesforce databases with Looker, SQL and Excel, including use of VBA and Python for utility scripting and automation
- Verified a 30% increase in customer call-to-payment rates due to the adoption of a new IVR telephony system
- Designed diesel engine components to engineering drawing specifications with Creo
- Stripped down a turbocharger in Lab Ops and examined it for surface defects using an X-ray diffractometer
- Simulated component response to mechanical and thermal loads
- Presented to an audience of 20+ coworkers, including teams via conference call in India and China
- Analysed a large JSON dataset on transistor characteristics using Python in the Spyder IDE to identify trends in performance
- Presented a method to identify pairwise correlation using Seaborn, NumPy and Pandas to an audience of 10+ coworkers
